Task
Flexible cables and cords must be able to withstand the flexing and bending movement which occu in normal usage. The stress in practical use is simulated by mea of the test with e.g. 60 000 load cycles.
During the test the sample is bent after each other into two opposite directio over a prescribed bending radius. For this purpose the cable to be checked is led over two pulleys on a carrier which moves to and fro.
Test Machine
The PTL Flexibility Test Machines are suitable for the stress by mea of pulleys up to diameter 200 mm. The carrier is equipped with recirculating-ball bearing bushes which run on hardened and ground guideways. In accordance with the standards it is driven by mea of a circulating chain. A connecting rod with ball-bearings is used for coupling the carrier with the driving chain. These features eure that the carrier guide has almost no slackness, is easy to maintain and relatively quiet.
Attaching and removing the sample

The PTL Flexibility Test Machines have been designed so that the time required for attaching and removing the cables under test is kept as small as possible. It is not necessary - even in the case of the multiple test machines - to thread the cables.
For this reason the table has side slots. All clamps to fasten and to load the samples are designed in such a manner that, without changing parts, 16 different openings are provided to suit the different cable shapes and dimeio. Tightening is carried out by knurled nuts. It is possible to exchange the pulleys quickly.

Friction Tester Type RPG compliant to ISO 8295
Application: Determination of friction behavior of packaging material, plastic foils etc.
Principle: The tester serves to test the friction behavior of two samples moving relatively to each other. The test can be conducted in accordance with ISO 8295 (test of plastic foils, determination of friction behavior). It is used for quality assurance purposes.
For a test the lower specimen, e.g. a metal plate, is mounted on the measurement slider. A jig connected to the force measuring unit holds the the upper specimen. By mea of a dead weight the contact pressure is generated. During the measurement the slider is moving agait the resistance of the friction pairing at a velocity of 100 mm/min. The measured value of the friction force is continuously monitored. The sliding distance is about 60 mm. The advance velocity can be set ranging from 5 - 300 mm / min prior to the measurement by mea of the software.
The friction tester is equipped with a 5 N friction force seor connected via an amplifier and an USB interface to a computer.The software works with an USB module, providing a resolution of 12 bit.
The slider can be optionally equipped with a heating plate for temperatures up to 80℃ connected from below. The power supply is 230VAC +/-10% (50Hz).

Application - Fire hazard testing
Principle - The tester serves to investigate the fire-resistant properties of materials and end products. The glow-wire itself is the source of fire. The temperature of the glow-wire is set and controlled by a temperature controller. During a test the temperature controller can be operated in a manual mode to generate a defined voltage signal on the manipulated variable (glow-wire), thus avoiding a feedback of the reference variable (thermocouple) on the temperature controller. The temperature of the glow-wire can be set from room temperature to 1000℃. The temperature of the glow-wire is detected by a sheathed thermocouple type K (class 1) in accordance with IEC 60584-2.
During the test the specimen is moved at a cotant velocity of 11 mmec toward the glow-wire and back. The heating time of 30 sec is quartz controlled. The specimen support is pulled toward the glow-wire with a force of 1 N. The power supply is 230 VAC
